【2020 Review】Home Projector ultra-short throw model!! bought and found its pros and cons（LG，HF85LS，HF65LS，HF65LA）

The Review of projector super short focus model（LG:HF85LS）

First of all, me, the auther of this article is Japanese.

Hi, I am bono the movie lover. 

I would like to review of the projecter I bought to make a best theater room in my place.

The quality is great and I'm using it everyday. 

I'm going to talk about also the pros and cons that I found after using some weeks.

Specs of HF85LS

The Projector I bought is this from LG.

Specs:

• ultra-short throw
• DLP
• Hull HD(1920x1080)
• 1500lm

Giving some coments for each specs↓

Ultra-short throw：Ultra-short throw is the best choice if your room is small or you want keep your room simple. You don't have to prepare a table or shelf for the projector and it doesn't require long distance between screen and projector. You just put the machine just under the wall and no necessary to warry about the shades in screen that human or objects might make. 

DLP：Colours are vivid and beautifle. Unlike the lamp type model, the laser type model has a long run so you don't need to replace the lamp in every periods.

Full HD：High difinition is produced by DLP. The resolution is 1920 by 1080 images. More than Full HD might be required to satisfy you in this 4K age.

1500ml：This is a unit which express the brightness. 1500 or more lumen can project vividly in a bright space. If the lumen is small, you can watch videos only in a dark room. You should know also that this unit affects the contrast of brightness which is an important factor to project the vivid and beautiful screen.  

The beauty and vividness of screen made by this projector are extraordinary when you compare them with other models. It has a feature that complements the image frames in video so that you can enjoy a dynamic videos like action movies.

Review

I'm going to review HF85LS with following items.

1.Arrangement and Screen size
2.Brightness
3.Roughness of the wall and the Image quality 
4.Features and Operability
5.Noise and Speaker
6.Impression after using it
7.Fault point

• 1.Arrangement and Screen size

Please take a look at my arrangement and the screen size.

You can see the huge and high resolution image projected by HF85LS placed just under the wall.

The little distortion is observed.. because the wall is not perfectly flat. I'm not crying..
In this arrangement, the distance between the wall and the projector is only 3 inches and the screen is 90 inches which is minimum size.
The maximum screen size is 120 inches with 8 inches of wall-product distance.

You don't have to prepare a table or shelf for the projector.

You can keep your room simple.

No shades on projected screen by people or objects.

The ultra-short throw can give us these profits.

You can get some of these pros from normal projector too if you can get a proper shelf on back wall or you have a reform or construct on your ceiling.

But generally they are impossible because of apartmet issues, physical issues or something.

The projector on your ceiling would make video games and attached devices hard to use.

• 2.Brightness

This product has 1500 lumen and you can enjoy enough in a bit bright room.
Although this picture is taken in a room with strong sunlight in morning (with another window which is open, without ceiling light), you can see the beautifull and bright screen image.

With this lumen, it is more than enough to watch vivid and beautifull movies or play video games with friends in a bit bright room.

• 3.Roughness of the wall and the Image quality 

As a disadvantage of ultra-short throw projector, it is not suitable for roughness of the wall because the projector light comes from just under the wall.

They are sensitive to roughness.

With same reason, you can not use a general cloth suspended screen which creates big wave-like roughness. 

I'm just projecting to the normal wall.

For your information, the wall in my room has this roughness(following picture).

The roughness can be easly observed by eyes or hands.

You can see quite big roughness in this close deistance but you can't see that roughness from distance. Noy at all.

• 4.Features and Operability

This product equips WEBOS so that you can use varius contents like web search, Youtube, U-next, and so on. You only have to connect to Wi-Fi. (The latest OS model doesn't support Netflix... But there is a possibility that it does in the future because the old OS supported it.) 
About operability, it is intuitive to use with a movable arrowhead pointer on the screen. It is easy and stressfree to use.

• 5.Noise and Speaker

No problem.
Of course it's not silent but it doesn't bother you because you take a seat far away from the wall and projector.

You might not notice the noise when you turn the video audio on.
This projector has a speaker and it has enough quality to enjoy movies.

But I recommend you to buy other audio product if you care the audio quality.

• 6.Impression after using it

The features from ultra-short throw are huge to me!!!

It is easy to attach media products like switch, laptop and harddisc and etc because the projector is placed on floor or low shelf, not on a high shelf or ceiling. 

Furthermore, no shades on screen and no dazzling light because the light source is close to the wall and it faces toward to the wall.

And definitely the big and beautifull screen!!! feeling like I'm in a private theater.

• 7.Fault point

Why are ports at backside of the product??!!

This product is used at very close distance to the wall. It's bothering me to connect HDMI port...But maybe it's not problem if you use with big size screen so that there is space between them.   
WEBOS doesn't support Netflix!!??

Why... You have to consider Netflix at first!! (I'm talking to someone in LG developer)

But last OS supported Netflix so I'm believing they are going to make it someday..

Or you can use FireStick to enjoy Netflix without laptop or something. 
Expensive!!

Ultra-short models are very expensive...

It's undersandable that It requires advanced technology and needs high costs.

Soft focus:(

It is difficult to sharp the image at the top and bottom at the same time. You easly notice the sharpness difference between the top and the bottom when you are close to the screen. I'm focusing the bottom to see the scripts of movies and the sharpness at top is enough clear for me.
